Cr16 High Chromium Cast Iron Grate

May 22, 2026

Cr16 high chromium cast iron grate is a core wear-resistant and heat-resistant component for industrial combustion equipment such as coal-fired boilers, biomass boilers and waste incinerators. Featuring outstanding high-temperature wear resistance, thermal shock resistance and corrosion resistance, it is one of the most widely used grate materials in the industry.
1. Material Properties
With chromium content of about 16%, Cr16 high chromium cast iron is reinforced by carbides. It corresponds to Russian standard ЧХ16.
Excellent wear resistance: Hardness reaches HRC55-62 at room temperature, and remains above HRC50 under high temperature. It effectively resists scouring and abrasion from burning fuel.
Superior heat resistance: Long-term working temperature ranges from 850℃ to 950℃, with instant temperature resistance over 1000℃. It hardly deforms or softens under high heat.
Stable thermal shock resistance: Optimized chromium-carbon ratio reduces thermal stress and prevents cracking caused by frequent temperature changes.
Good anti-corrosion performance: Dense oxide film forms on the surface to resist erosion from sulfur and chlorine contained in flue gas.
2. Product Advantages
Compared with common gray iron and low chromium cast iron grates, this product has remarkable strengths.
Long service life: The service life can reach 2 to 3 years, greatly cutting spare parts replacement and maintenance frequency.
Wide working condition adaptability: Suitable for various fuels including coal, straw, wood chips and domestic waste. Multiple specifications meet different installation demands.
Precise casting dimension: Advanced sand casting technology guarantees high dimensional consistency, avoiding coal and air leakage.
Reliable operation quality: Strict defect inspection ensures no cracks or severe pores on stressed parts, supporting continuous stable operation.
3. Application Scope
Industrial coal-fired chain grate boilers and reciprocating grate boilers
Biomass fuel burning boilers
Municipal solid waste incinerators
High-temperature industrial heat treatment furnaces
4. Quality Control Standard
Chemical composition: Chromium 15%-17%, carbon 2.8%-3.6%, sulfur and phosphorus impurities below 0.06%.
Surface defect control: Limited pits and pores, no damage on key bearing positions.
Dimensional tolerance: Uniform casting fillet and standard machining precision for easy assembly.
Performance inspection: Batch hardness test and metallographic examination to guarantee stable mechanical performance.
The quality of Cr16 high chromium cast iron grate directly decides boiler operating efficiency and maintenance cost. Qualified material and sophisticated manufacturing process ensure long-term safe operation.
