The bottom plate, also known as the furnace bed plate or the trolley panel, is a heavy-duty refractory alloy component laid flat on the bottom of a box-type resistance furnace or the trolley surface of a trolley-type resistance furnace. It directly supports the heated workpieces (such as castings, forgings, steel materials, material baskets, etc.) and is constantly exposed to high temperatures, heavy loads, and sometimes even corrosive atmospheres in a harsh environment.

The heat-resistant steel furnace bottom plate is the core load-bearing component of industrial electric furnaces, capable of operating stably at temperatures ranging from 950 to 1150℃. It has the functions of bearing, heat insulation and flow diversion. It is preferably made of materials such as Cr-Mn-N series or 310S, and is manufactured through precise casting technology. It is suitable for applications in box furnaces, trolley furnaces, etc. The selection should match the temperature, load and internal atmosphere of the furnace.
The core of the performance of the furnace bottom plate lies in its material - heat-resistant steel. This is a special alloy steel with excellent oxidation resistance (no peeling) and sufficient high-temperature strength at temperatures above 600℃.
The commonly used materials for the bottom plate of the furnace and their characteristics:
- Cr-Mn-N series (economical type) Chromium (Cr), Manganese (Mn), Nitrogen (N) at 950℃ - 1050℃ are the most commonly used. By nitrogen alloying to replace part of the expensive nickel, the cost is lower, and the high-temperature strength and anti-carburization property are good. It is the main material for box furnaces and carriages at temperatures below 950℃.
- ZG40Cr25Ni20 (310S) High Chromium (Cr), High Nickel (Ni) 1100℃ - 1150℃ High-performance type. High nickel content, high-temperature strength, oxidation resistance, and anti-carburization property. Used in high-temperature furnaces, carburizing furnaces, etc., in demanding environments. Expensive.
- ZG35Cr24Ni7SiN (RE) Chromium, Nickel, Silicon, Nitrogen 1100℃ - 1150℃ Improved on the basis of Cr25Ni20, adding silicon (Si) and nitrogen (N), superior comprehensive performance, with a better cost-performance ratio than pure 310S, and is a common choice in the high-temperature field.
- ZG30Cr18Mn12Si2N Chromium, Manganese, Silicon, Nitrogen 950℃ - 1000℃ No nickel or low nickel heat-resistant steel, good sulfidation resistance, suitable for atmospheres containing sulfur. Has a cost advantage.
- ZG5Cr26Ni4Mn3N High Chromium, Medium Nickel, Manganese, Nitrogen 1050℃ - 1100℃ High strength, high wear resistance, especially suitable for supporting heavy workpieces or occasions with frequent friction.

- Manufacturing process: Precision casting (lost-wax casting / sand casting). It can cast complex structures and reinforcing ribs, with high material utilization rate, uniform structure, and is a method for manufacturing heat-resistant steel furnace bottom plates.
- Auxiliary processes: Welding and machining. The large furnace bottom plate is usually cast in pieces, and then welded together as a whole using heat-resistant steel welding rods. The installation surface needs to undergo machining processes such as milling to ensure flatness.
Main application scenarios
- Box-type resistance furnace: The bottom plate is laid flat on the furnace base to protect the bottom electric heating elements and the refractory layer. Consider the possible collisions caused by forklifts or tools during loading and unloading.
- Tray-type resistance furnace: The bottom plate of the furnace is directly installed on the refractory material of the tray steel structure, serving as the "working surface" of the tray. It moves into and out of the furnace along with the tray, so it must not only withstand high temperatures but also possess sufficient thermal shock resistance (resistance to rapid cooling and heating) and structural strength to withstand vibrations during transportation.
- Other industrial furnaces: They are also widely used as the loading bases for reverberatory furnaces and hearth furnaces, as well as the conveying rails or supports for heat treatment production lines.
