Silicon carbide ceramic is a ceramic material with silicon carbide (SiC) as the main component, which has high strength, high temperature resistance and corrosion resistance, and is widely used in industrial fields.

The production process mainly includes hot pressing sintering, pressureless sintering, reaction sintering and other methods, through controlling the sintering temperature (1450-2450℃) and adding additives (such as boron carbide, alumina) to achieve densification

 

 

 

 

Products Description

The reaction sintered silicon carbide ceramic products have the following outstanding features:
Excellent mechanical properties: Extremely high hardness (Mohs scale 9.0-9.5 close to that of diamond), with a bending strength of 400-600 megapascals, and maintaining high strength even at a temperature of 1600°C.


Outstanding thermal properties: High thermal conductivity (120 - 220 W/m·K), low thermal expansion coefficient (about 4.0×10^{-6}/K), capable of withstanding high temperatures up to 1400 - 1600°C, and strong resistance to thermal shock (temperature difference exceeding 800°C).


Outstanding chemical stability: Resistant to acid and alkali corrosion, having the strongest oxidation resistance among all non-oxide ceramics, suitable for corrosive and high-temperature environments.


Durability and versatility: The durability is over 10 times that of ordinary ceramics, and it also possesses semiconductor properties (unlike ordinary insulating ceramics), making it suitable for extreme working conditions.

 

Silicon carbide ceramics, due to their high hardness, high temperature resistance, corrosion resistance, high thermal conductivity and excellent wear resistance, play a crucial role in various industrial fields. The main applications are as follows:


I. High Temperature and Metallurgical Industry
High-temperature furnaces: Manufacturing kiln furnaces, crucibles, burner nozzles, furnace support components, etc., capable of operating stably at temperatures above 1600°C.
Refractory materials: Used for blast furnace linings, refractory bricks, and insulation boards, resisting erosion by molten metals and significantly extending equipment lifespan.
Metal smelting: As deoxidizers to enhance steel water purity, or made into continuous casting diversion rings, thermocouple protection tubes, optimizing smelting efficiency.
